I don’t call all Latinos Mexican. Where did you get that idea? I simply hesitate to use that term because people are easily offended. Oddly enough, despite the fact that Mexico isn’t in South America, they’re not offended when I lump them into the term “South American.”

How about, first of all, if you want act all smart about geography, let’s begin with proper grammar and spelling. Confusion only has one “s” for example, and look at the way you structured the “Mexico is..” line.

Before you begin with lectures on geography, consider the type of people that are on here, and exactly who you’re acting all smart to. For all you know, I might be a professor of Latin American studies. The fact is, while Mexico is located in N. America, it’s culture is closely related to the South American countries. I prefer not to say “Latinos” because I know too many people who are offended by that phrase. Plus, I wasn’t specifically talking about Mexico. I say Mexico in LA because that’s the majority of the LATINOS in CA. Reality is that Koreans probably have more in common with countries like Argentina or Brazil (where a lot of Koreans live).

Oh, btw. I live in LA too, so don’t try to establish a pretentious credibility based on that fact. I didn’t say it’s perfect. I’m saying that the growth in Mexican-Korean relationships is greater than the growth in White-Korean ones.

As an ASIAN I should know about the sentiments we have towards non-Asians. The only reason why there are so many White-Asian couples is because of the way media portrays them. In the Western countries (especially AMerica), white males are positively represented in media. Asian women are portrayed as a submissive, gentle people with their only desire being pleasuring men, OR they’re seen as the sexy “dragon lady.” Asian guys, on the other hand, are often comic relief. You think Asian girls in Asia care particularly about white guys? NO. They’re not blasted with Western media over there. In the same way, even though I’m Asian, I find that white women are more attractive to my tastes because I’ve been conditioned to believe what media portrays as an ideal woman, and they’re portrayed behind the skin of a white woman.

Do Asians have a negative view of Mexicans and South Americans (who the Koreans will generally just call Mexican)? Yes. I’m not going to lie. However, times are changing, and people are realizing the cultural similarities. For one, both Mexicans and Koreans are certainly more conservative than the average American in LA. Both Mexicans and Koreans have a large Christian community. And they all prefer soccer over football :p

SO, before you act like you’re a smart person, realize that you’re not, and other people have more meaningful things to say.

There was an article a couple years ago that said Korean-Mexican marriages were becoming more common in CA, and the growth in numbers in that area was overtaking Korean-White marriages. This is because, culturally, Koreans and the South American nations have more in common.

Perhaps they are at a disadvantage do to poor living conditions but that doesn’t make them genetically inferior. The most beautiful women in the whole world might be stuck in there, all she would need is possibly a nice long bath and she could shine like the stars.

From what I’ve seen, because of lack of resources, third world countries tend to have less attractive people. I would assume that’s the case because they have less access to hygiene and nutrition and other resources like skin care.

I’m sorry The Guy about my earlier reply but I think the thing that got me was in how you seemed to think that everyone must conform to concepts brought about by globalization, and that anyone outside this view (N.Korea) were somehow wrong.

I mean there can be little doubt about the power Globalization has had and of the many countries have succumbed to that Western ideology as to what makes women more ‘attractive’. Just looking at Korea, Japan and now recently China we can already see this happening, but we have to remember that countries like Japan (and much more to the point N.Korea) very much retain their older traditional norms in spite of media pressure.
The geisha with their pale complexion is a prime example of how to the Japanese and their society those types of women were and still are attractive.
