Do You Know Bang Bang?

Bang Eun Young, who has the nickname “Bang Bang,” was interviewed recently and if there was ever a time I wish I knew Korean, it would be now. I love the self-shot photos, including what appears to be Kim Ha Yul and her making faces in photo #10. This interview will definitely make any Bang Eun Young fan happy :)

Well, I’m learning Korean on an “intermediate” level, but most of this stuff is pretty difficult for me, and would take too long to translate all of it. However, I did a rough translation of page 10.. a VERY rough translation, so don’t expect much accuracy when it comes to reflecting her style of talking and whatnot.. this is just for comprehension :)

Q: Which model are you closest to?
A: These days I meet In Ji a lot [Bang Eun Young and Hwang In Ji photo set @ http://reallycuteasians.net/2009/07/bang-eun-young-and-hwang-in-ji/#more-10803. We became close at the 2007 Seoul Motor Show, at the Volswagen, and since last year we've been meeting each other often. I see Ji Sung [Gu Ji Sung] and Jina [Song Jina] often, but they don’t like to go drinking so much, so… I meet In Ji to go drinking, and also sometimes to drink coffee after work. Especially this year, we seem to see each other more because we’re on the same team (CJ Super Race Team). It seems that way… Whenever we want to see one another, it turns out we get to work together and see one another more.

Q: When you meet them, what do you usually do together?
A: Nothing special. We have a meal, drink some tea, go to the nail shop… Ah! Some time ago, we also went tanning together. Although not as often, sometimes we also go to the movies together.

Q: On the days you don’t have to work, how do you usually spend your time?
A: I usually relax at home, or go out with friends… To eat a meal, have tea, see a movie… and now and then to go out drinking. I like to travel, so I like to take advantage of whenever I have time off and go travelling. I’d first like to go to Busan. Since my relatives were from Busan, I’ve been there often, but it doesn’t seem like I’ve been there much outside of when I had to work there. Busan’s an intriguing city.

She’s the girl with the smile you can’t forget

  13. Mattias says:

@Steve:Whoa, thanks for this Steve… One of my top favorites :)
@Saboten: Thanks for the translation… It seems she likes to “drink”. Im a bit confuse, does she means drink tea or drink “liquor/wine/beer” Not surprise she is close to HIJ, see them together often in those events… together with Nam Eun Ju.

  14. Saboten says:

She’s talking about drinking alcohol. Drinking’s a big part of their society, and they have their own words to describe concepts like “to go drinking,” “to have alcohol with a meal.” Or you can say “to do alcohol” to describe the general act of going out drinking. She uses all 3 words/phrases in that short segment. Sounds like my kind of girl :)

  15. Mattias says:

@Saboten: Not my type of the girl then :( I hate alcohol… for obvious reasons ;) But then, each to (her) own, eh? Maybe That’s their Korean culture way of living…

  16. Mattias says:

If those race queens are drinking alcohol, that explains those “little cute pot bellies” they show off in their tight race queen outfits!!! :D
